Frontier-Kemper is committed to providing comprehensive, single-source mine development services to its owner/partners.

A leader in the underground mining construction industry for over thirty years, Frontier-Kemper Constructors develops underground mines for coal, salt, copper, and other minerals throughout North America. We perform our work under a variety of contract arrangements, including fixed-price, turnkey and fee-based.

Frontier-Kemper, and our FKC-Lake Shore Division, also provides mining clients related mine development services, including the design, manufacture and installation of permanent equipment such as head frames and underground bulk materials handling systems, hoisting and ventilation systems as well as mechanical and electrical systems.

In the 1970's, Frontier-Kemper pioneered the application of large diameter raise boring and slipformed shaft and raised linings, while further honing our expertise in sinking shafts, driving slopes and tunnels.

To further our presence in the market and provide our customers with solutions for mechanically excavated deep/large diameter blind drilled shafts, FKCI, Wirth, and ACI entered a joint cooperation agreement in 2006 to build a 240-ton blind shaft drilling system (Model DHI-240). FKCI is currently finalizing fabrication and testing of this drill rig.

With over 150 mine development projects completed, Frontier-Kemper is one of the best-equipped, most experienced mining contractors operating in North America. And because of our long history of working in the mining industry, we are versed in all MSHA (Mining Safety and Health Administration) regulations.
