Frontier-Kemper's mine development team recently completed tunnel construction for Luck Stone Corporation. Drill-and-Blast and SEM excavation methods were used. The tunnel links Leesburg Quarry's East Pit to a proposed West Pit traveling beneath Goose Creek. The finished tunnel accommodates both truck traffic and a conveyor belt to provide the East Pit processing plant with raw product.

MILESTONE:
Goose Creek is a state scenic river in the Potomac River basin. FKCI performed SEM tunneling methods beneath the river with only 50 feet of cover between the bottom of the riverbed and top of the tunnel.
