The Frontier-Kemper/Michels JV was awarded the contract for the tunnel component of FortisBC Energy Inc.'s Eagle Mountain–Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project (EGP). The project consists of using two TBMs to bore approximately nine km (5.48 miles) of tunnel between the town of Squamish, BC, Canada and the Woodfibre LNG industrial site, located southwest of downtown Squamish. The underground tunnel will run at depths of approx. 25m-450m below ground and will play an important role in protecting sensitive ecosystems and wildlife within the Skwelwil'em Squamish Estuary. Our scope of work includes:
5.02 km (3.12 miles) of 4.5m (14.8-ft) Ø Hard Rock Tunnel Boring
3.8 km (2.36 miles) of 4.1m (13.5-ft.) Ø Slurry Tunnel Boring
Two (2) Gas Pipelines Installed Within the Tunnel
